Lilian Lakshmi Shaw
Lakshmi is a certified Integral Yoga teacher and a student and disciple of His Holiness Sri Swami Satchidananda for the past 15 years. Her Sanskrit name Lakshmi, was given to her by her Master Sri Swami Satchidananda in Bali on one of her many travels and visits abroad to
receive his holiness teachings and blessings. Lakshmi trained in Integral Yoga under the Satchidananda Ashram Teachers Programme in Virginia USA and teaches regularly at the Integral
Yoga Centre.
In 1997, taught and certified by her Guru and director Mrs Nalanie Chellaram of the Gibraltar Integral Yoga Centre, Lakshmi qualified in
Raja Yoga, she then furthered her studies and in 2001 qualified in Pre-natal Hatha Yoga certified by Swami Sharadananda at the
Satchidananda Ashram, Virginia USA.
In Gibraltar 2002 Lakshmi qualified in Beginner's Hatha Yoga and later in July of 2004 at Intermediate Level which she took in Portugal
and was qualified under the direction of Satya Greenstone. In May 2007, having studied under Dr Mala Cunningham Ph.D., Lakshmi qualified as a Cardiac Yoga Teacher. She is also part of a group of
six teachers presently offering free hatha classes to Breast Cancer patients now students of the centre and as part of their re-hab.
Lakshmi, as the rest of the teachers currently teaching at the centre, all offer their services as Karma Yoga and selfless service to the
community.
For the past three years, Lakshmi has held the post of Vice Chair-person of the Gibraltar Integral Yoga Centre where she assists the
centre's Director Mrs Nalanie Chellaram in the running of the centre.
Shanti
Shanti is a certified Integral Yoga teacher. She has been trained to teach Hatha Yoga at levels I and II and Raja Yoga. Her teacher Nalanie
Chellaram, is a student and disciple of Sri Swami Satchidananda.
She is also a certified Cardiac Yoga Teacher, having studied under Dr Mala Cunningham, Ph.D. She has also taught Creative Visualization,
helping people relax through Deep Relaxation, Pranayama and Meditation. She has also taught children and teenagers. Shanti has the
great privilege of traveling all over the world with Nalanie Chellaram, serving wherever is needed.
Together with Denis Valerga, Shanti has put together a CD called 'TotalPeace'. This includes relaxing music, rolling oms and positive
affirmations (by Sri Swami Satchidananda and Nalanie Chelleram, read by Shanti).
She has also assisted with Teacher Training Courses both in Hatha and RajaYoga. She also teaches Chair Yoga to cancer patients in Gibraltar.
Shanti received her name, which means peace, in Bali, from her beloved Guru, Sri Swami Satchidananda. Her aim is to serve the world with a
heart full of peace, joy, love and light.
Nathalia Pendo Berkowitz
Nathalia is a certified Integral Yoga teacher. She is trained in Hatha Yoga at Beginners' and Intermediate levels. She is also trained
to teach yoga to children with special needs - including both mental and physical difficulties. Nathalia is also certified to teach Raja
Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation.
Nathalia has been involved in body work for many years having studied dance and Alexander technique as well as yoga. She has a special
interest in helping her students to connect with and become aware of their bodies. She seeks to help her students to learn for themselves
how their bodies work, the ways in which they hold emotional and physical stresses and strains and how to relieve them.
Nathalia has given talks at the Yoga Centre in yoga for children who have special needs.
Nathalia's training was undertaken at the Yoga Centre in Gibraltar under the generous guidance of Nalanie Challeram and at the Special
Yoga Centre in London under the inspirational teaching of Jo Manuel, herself a student of Sonia Sumar, founder of the Yoga for the Special
Child program.
Nathalia is available for one-to-one tuition for students with special needs.
Paddy San Alcantara
Paddy is a certified Integral Yoga teacher trained in Hatha Yoga at Beginner's and Intermediate Levels. She is also certified to teach
Raja Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. She also holds a Diploma from Dr Mala Cunningham for teaching Cardiac Yoga and currently teaches
Chair Yoga to cancer patients at the Lady Williams Centre in Gibraltar.
She studied under the direct guidance of Nalanie Chellaram, a student of Sri Swami Satchidananda.
Paddy has a special interest in "Mudras" (hand pressure positions) and has given talks on this subject in Portugal and the U.K.
She has also given courses on "Stress-Manangement Thru Yoga" at the Yoga Centre and to the Business Women's Network". She also teaches
students who are undergoing teacher training in both Hatha and Raja Yoga.
She is a keen chanter and believer in the beneficial and effective use of sound vibrations on body, mind and spirit. Paddy is currently
P.A. to Nalanie Chellaram who is the Director of "The Integral Yoga Centre" Gibraltar.
Julio Alcantara
After a satisfying 38-year career as a secondary school teacher and education administrator, he trained in Integral Yoga under
the Satchidananda Ashram Teachers' Programme (Virginia, USA).
Qualified in the Raja Yoga Sutras of
Sri Patanjali (January 1999) and Hatha Yoga, Beginning Level (May 2000) both under the direction of
Nalarie Chellaram; Hatha Yoga, Intermediate Level (July 2004) under the direction of
Satya Greenstone; and Cardiac Yoga (May 2007) under Dr Mala Cunningham. Teaches class regularly
at the Integral Yoga Centre, Gibraltar.
He is particularly interested in stress management and is currently the Gibraltar IY Centre Secretary.
Anne Marie (Tara) Morello
After experiencing the benefits of Hatha Yoga first hand, Tara decided to undertake the Integral Yoga Teacher Training programme
She was taught Hatha and Raja Yoga by Nalanie Chellaram, a student of Sri Swami Satchidananda. In May 2007 she completed her teacher
training in Cardiac Yoga under the guidance of Dr. Mala Cunningham.
Tara is currently working with staff at the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit in the hospital in Gibraltar, so as to integrate Cardiac Yoga
into the Cardiac Rehabilitation programme.
Tara is very interested in holistic therapies and is working towards obtaining her diploma in Nutitional Therapy. In the future she hopes
to become a nutritional advisor and is keen to combine her knowledge of yoga and nutrition.
Tara will also be traveling to U.K. to complete a Children's Yoga Course in November. At present Tara teaches the beginner's classes on
Fridays with Nathalia. |
